The Ceremony

The Ceremony

The Ceremony can take place within the walls of the 13th Century Castle or by the stunning setting of the single cannon over looking the Sound of Mull.  Say “I do” and make history surrounded by 800 years of life and love.

Alongside our weddings, we welcome couples who wish to renew their vows at the castle. It is a special location for Clan Maclean descendants to return to renew their vows.

Wedding times and availability

Weddings at Duart are always held before or after the usual Castle opening times so you and your guests can have exclusive use.
Between 1 – 30 April 2020 and 1 – 18 October 2020 the Castle closes at 4 pm enabling us to host weddings at 4.30 during these months.
However, from May to September weddings can take place from 5.30 pm as the Castle closes at 5 pm. We also welcome morning weddings before the Castle opens.
We recommend that guests are invited to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony.

Religious Ceremonies

If you wish to have a Religious Ceremony at Duart we advise you to discuss this with your own Priest first of all, who will be able to tell you the process on how to organise this. Please note that although Duart is licensed to hold wedding ceremonies taken by a Registrar, not all Churches will take ceremonies outside of a Church unless there are unusual circumstances to warrant it.
